It's 8:30 a.m. here in San Diego. I'm sick as a dog but it's 71 degrees outside, the KNICKS are about to be on TV and the tree looks delightful. Christmas off to an awesome start.

Need to get the season started off right.  No Paul Pierce today.  Gotta take advantage.  Need good effort from Toney, he has to keep Rondo from doing whatever he wants.

Huge test for Toney. He looked lost defending Rondo after Chauncey went down in the first round last year. Big matchup to watch. It would be great for Douglass' confidence to get off to a good start against one of the best.

I have a feeling Amar'e is going to be a monster today. I think he's motivated to super heights right now. He's taking these games against Boston, Miami, even Chicago quite personally this year.

Zach, go to your settings and upload an avatar. You look like an amateur with that blank photo. And if there's one thing Zach Auster isn't, it's amateur.

A lot of the Great Neck boys said they would be in here today. Let's see who really cares about Knicks basketball.

Paul Pierce is out. Who exactly is going to guard Mr. Anthony; Sasha Pavlovic? Please. Has there been a better bet for 50 on opening day before? If the shot is falling it's over for Boston today.

It's going to be so important for the supporting cast to knock down open shots off double teams. That means Douglass and Fields especially.

Look at Amare Stoudemire playing pressure D on Ray Allen and nearly forcing a turnover #loveit

So far, so good. What will happen when they have to go to their bench? Who will be first off the bench?

Harrellson, Jeffries and Shumpert all in the game = scary. Not in a good way. We'll see.

Jared Jeffries hits a perimeter shot. Not something you see every day.

Can't complain with that first quarter.  I do need to get an Avatar popping.  I'll upload an avatar when the Knicks get their first dunk of the season.

Box Score

'Melo tied for game-high with a pretty quiet 9 points, Shumpert has 7 off the bench for New York.

Rondo leads Boston with 9

What's the over/under on Baron Davis's weight? 300? 350?

I don't want to be over critical but this defense isn't impressing me right now. Too many open shots, easy dunks, no answer for Rondo going to the hoop and Chandler's presence not exactly being felt. Yet, at least.

rondo is doing whatever he wants...shumpert is getting to the paint nicely struggling to finish though.

Pleased, not thrilled with the first half performance.

The Good: 'Melo looks like 'Melo, Stat looks like Stat and has even hit a couple of threes. Shumpert is getting to the hole off the bench, consistently. Knicks are winning the battle on the glass (21-16). Chandler has four blocked shots. The Knicks lead by 10 at the break.

The Bad: One rebound for Chandler. Inconsistent effort on defense. Too many easy layups, open shots etc. Shumpert isn't finishing at the rim. Rajon Rondo has 19 points and was doing whatever he wanted up until the final part of the second quarter.

Defense needs to pick up the intensity or Boston will be right back in this game in a hurry. Offense needs to keep doing its thing, but I'd like to see a few more fastbreaks/dunks (they have none so far) to get the crowd really into it and seize momentum. Let's Go.

All my fears about the defense are coming to fruition, and the bal isn't moving at the other end.

Carmelo Anthony nees to be in this game. The Knicks need to get the momentum back. You're not going to do that without a big offensive spark.

Didn't realize Carmelo had four fouls. Knicks need a strong finish to the third quarter without hm.

If the Knicks are going to win this game, they'll need to be a completely different defensive team than they were last season..and in the previous quarter of THIS game. And Carmelo will need to be a hero.
